What the inspected label contains
The March 2025 DailyMed label lists 29 mg iron,150 mcg iodine,200 mg DHA from algal oil and 1700 mcg dietary folate equivalents from folic acid and L-methylfolate calcium per capsule, alongside other nutrients. DFE is a folate reporting unit;1700 mcg DFE is not the same as 1700 mcg of folic acid. [1][2]
Prescription listing is not an approval finding
DailyMed categorizes this as a human prescription drug label but displays marketing status unapproved drug other and states that FDA has not approved this labeling or found the product safe and effective. The label describes supplementation before conception, during pregnancy and after pregnancy. That listing should not be called FDA approval. [1]
Review the whole prenatal plan
Imagine adding another iron or folate supplement without checking the prenatal capsule. The combination could duplicate nutrients unnecessarily. The inspected product contains soy and bovine gelatin despite using algal DHA. Its iron warning stresses child-poisoning risk; keep it out of children’s reach and use it according to the prescriber’s plan. [1][2]
| Detail | What to check |
|---|---|
| Algal DHA | Does not mean the whole capsule is vegan |
| Folate DFE | Different from folic-acid ingredient mass |
| Prescription label | Not proof of FDA approval |
