Nutrient function is not disease control
Vitamin C has normal antioxidant and collagen-related roles. Those mechanisms do not show that extra vitamin C will clear psoriasis plaques. Meeting nutritional needs is reasonable, but treatment decisions should follow evidence for psoriasis itself. [1][2]
Do not confuse vitamin C with a vitamin D medicine
AAD describes synthetic vitamin D analogues among topical psoriasis treatments and explains that these differ from ordinary vitamin D supplements. That evidence does not apply to vitamin C serum. Similar vitamin terminology is not a reason to substitute one product for another. [2]
A topical reaction is a separate issue
Vitamin C skincare formulations vary, and some may irritate a particular person. Stop a product causing a reaction and seek advice about its use on affected skin. Burning or redness should not be interpreted as proof that psoriasis is being treated. [3][4]
Review the actual change
Imagine a flare follows a new serum, while vitamin C-containing foods have been eaten for years. The timing calls for a review of the product and skin condition, not automatic avoidance of all dietary vitamin C. High oral doses also carry separate gastrointestinal and kidney-related considerations. [1][4][2]
