High plasma exposure is temporary
A review describes rapid renal clearance when concentrations exceed usual steady-state levels and reports clearance-time estimates ranging from roughly half an hour to two hours in the cited literature. This is not a universal full-elimination time: the review discusses different doses and clinical settings, and vitamin C remains an ordinary nutrient in tissues. [1]
The route and kidney function change the question
NCI explains that IV administration can produce much higher blood concentrations than the same oral amount. Kidney disease changes the safety assessment and can affect handling. Oral absorption limits and an infusion concentration curve therefore should not be treated as interchangeable. [2][3]
A concentration curve does not prescribe the next infusion
The time for a blood level to decline does not establish how long a symptom benefit lasts or whether another infusion is useful. Proposed schedules in a review are not a universally validated treatment plan. The clinical purpose, evidence and risks need separate assessment. [1][2]
Clarify which endpoint is being promised
Imagine a clinic says an infusion lasts a week. Ask whether that refers to a measured blood level, a symptom outcome or simply its appointment schedule. Those are different claims and require different evidence. Do not infer a repeat-dose interval from renal clearance alone. [1]
| Meaning of duration | What determines it |
|---|---|
| High plasma concentration | Dose, infusion and clearance |
| Tissue vitamin availability | Nutritional handling and stores |
| Symptom improvement | Evidence for the actual condition |
| Repeat appointment | Not established by clearance alone |
