Is Shakeology a meal replacement or a supplement?

BODi describes Shakeology as a nutrition shake and says it does not replace a meal on its own. It can contribute protein and other nutrients to a meal, but the whole meal and exact formulation determine what you get.

The manufacturer distinguishes the shake from a complete meal

The Original Shakeology FAQ says the powder alone does not replace a meal and suggests combining it with other foods. Its stated calorie and protein ranges depend on flavor. The newer 0g Added Sugar line also describes itself as a nutrition shake rather than a traditional meal replacement. Use the label on the formulation you actually have. [1][2]

Mix-ins change the nutritional result

Water, milk, fruit and nut butter contribute different amounts of energy and nutrients. A powder serving and the finished drink therefore need separate accounting. A long ingredient list is not enough to establish whether a particular breakfast provides the amount of food or protein a person needs. [1]

The full blend matters for suitability

Shakeology contains more than protein: the manufacturer describes fibers, probiotics, enzymes and botanical ingredients. Check allergies and the complete formula when reviewing medicines or a medical condition. This is a formulation review, not evidence that every advertised benefit has been independently confirmed. [2][3]

Count the meal you prepare

Imagine a powder serving provides 160 calories and its milk and fruit add another 150. The finished drink would provide 310 calories, not 160. This arithmetic is hypothetical: use the actual package and measured ingredients, then consider how the drink fits the rest of the day. [1]

Hypothetical example — calculate a finished drink from hypothetical inputs
ComponentCalories
Powder serving160
Milk and fruit150
Finished drink310
