Compare equal portions

The inspected Nonfat Plain page lists 110calories,11g protein and 0g added sugars per 170g. Vanilla lists 160calories,8g protein,12g added sugars and 3.5g saturated fat for the same weight. These manufacturer values illustrate a meaningful recipe difference, not an independent laboratory analysis. [1][2]

Total sugar is not the same as added sugar

Nonfat Plain lists 10g total sugars despite 0g added sugars. Milk naturally contains sugar; FDA distinguishes naturally occurring sugars from sugars added during processing. Therefore a plain yogurt can contain sugar without being sweetened with added sugar. [1][3]

Culture labels are one part of the choice

Both pages list live cultures, including L. acidophilus and B. lactis. That does not establish a clinical advantage for either flavor. Imagine selecting the unsweetened option to control added sugar, then adding fruit according to preference. The nutritional comparison remains separate from a disease-treatment claim. [1][2][4]
