What does fish oil do for men and their hormones?

Omega-3 fats have normal roles in cell membranes and signaling in men as in other adults. Fish oil is not an established testosterone booster or a universal treatment for sexual or fertility problems. Its value depends on diet, the specific health goal and the preparation used.

Normal function is not hormone enhancement

EPA and DHA contribute to cell membranes and signaling pathways. This physiological role does not establish that an extra capsule raises testosterone, corrects low testosterone or improves libido. The amount of total fish oil is also not the same as its EPA plus DHA content. [1]

Cardiovascular uses are specific

Certain prescription omega-3 preparations are used for high triglycerides or selected cardiovascular indications. These findings do not mean any over-the-counter fish oil prevents heart attacks in every man. Keep prescribed treatment and dietary advice separate from general supplement advertising. [1][2]

Sexual and fertility claims require their own evidence

Male-infertility guidance describes the usefulness of vitamin and antioxidant supplements as uncertain. A nutrient role or semen-marker change is not a pregnancy guarantee. Symptoms suggesting low testosterone or erectile dysfunction need assessment of their cause. [3][4]

Match the decision to an actual goal

Imagine a man eats little fish but wants a capsule to restore energy and testosterone. Reviewing dietary omega-3 intake is reasonable, while persistent symptoms require their own assessment. More capsules are not a substitute for that evaluation, and medicines and high-dose adverse effects still matter. [1][4]
