The blend contains different kinds of nutrients
Abbott’s ingredient list includes L-arginine, L-glutamine, hydrolyzed beef collagen and calcium beta-hydroxy-beta-methylbutyrate, the HMB ingredient. It also includes vitamins and minerals such as vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin B12, calcium and zinc. Flavoring and other ingredients vary with the product. [1]
Collagen and free amino acids are separate entries
The inspected nutrient information lists arginine and glutamine separately from collagen protein. This matters when comparing it with an ordinary protein shake: a collection of amino acids and collagen is not automatically a nutritionally complete formula. Abbott specifically states that Juven is not for sole-source nutrition and should be used under medical supervision. [1]
Use the wound-care plan to decide its role
Imagine someone buys Juven after an operation. The relevant questions are how it fits their overall nutrition and prescribed care, rather than whether one ingredient is advertised for skin. The ingredient list explains what is supplied; it does not by itself establish the speed or likelihood of wound healing for that person. [1]
| Detail | What to check |
|---|---|
| Hydrolyzed beef collagen | Animal-derived protein component |
| Arginine, glutamine and HMB | Distinct components, not synonyms |
| Complete nutrition | Still requires a broader eating or feeding plan |
