Two prepared drinks show why one number is insufficient
USDA SR Legacy lists white lemonade prepared from frozen concentrate at 3.9 mg vitamin C and 9.98 g total sugars per 100 g. Its lemonade prepared from powder entry has 1.5 mg vitamin C and 3.5 g sugars. These are historical formulations, not values for every current brand or homemade recipe. [1]
Judge the complete drink
Raw lemon juice has a different composition and is usually only part of lemonade. A drink can contribute fluid and some vitamin C while also contributing sugar. A vitamin claim does not erase other ingredients. Read the actual serving and nutrient panel, especially when comparing a sweetened drink with an unsweetened or fortified formulation. [2]
A hypothetical 300 g serving
For the frozen-concentrate prepared entry,300 g supplies about 11.7 mg vitamin C and 29.94 g total sugars. The powder-prepared entry supplies 4.5 mg and 10.5 g. The comparison answers what those records contain, not whether one drink is appropriate for every person. [1]
| Prepared lemonade,300 g | Vitamin C | Total sugars |
|---|---|---|
| From frozen concentrate | 11.7 mg | 29.94 g |
| From powder | 4.5 mg | 10.5 g |
