Both groups received wart treatment

Eighty-three patients with common warts entered a double-blind trial. Both groups received liquid-nitrogen cryotherapy, while one group also received zinc sulfate and the other placebo. [1]

Supplement treatment lasted two months, with follow-up extending to six months. Complete resolution and recurrence did not differ significantly between groups in the reported analyses. [1]

An immune role does not establish a clinical treatment effect

Zinc’s biological importance does not override this direct comparison. The study tested an add-on strategy, so it cannot determine the effect of zinc alone or identify the best treatment for every type of wart. [1]

Funding and conflicts were not established from the abstract. The research protocol expressed a zinc-sulfate amount, which should not be mistaken for an equal elemental-zinc amount. High research doses are not a personal prescription, especially when the trial did not demonstrate the intended added benefit. [1]

Keep the shared treatment in view

Imagine two groups both receive cryotherapy and improve similarly. The improvement cannot be credited to the supplement simply because some participants took it during treatment.
