The study and its comparison

Sixty Japanese adults with crow’s-feet wrinkles were randomized to placebo or one of two molecular-weight hyaluronan preparations at 120 mg daily for twelve weeks. [1]

The 300-kDa group showed a significant wrinkle difference versus placebo at eight weeks. Luster and suppleness improved from baseline in all groups, so those changes are not uniquely attributable to treatment. [1]

What the finding establishes

Wrinkle geometry is a different endpoint from collagen synthesis. The short trial does not compare injections, topical serums and oral products. Six authors disclosed Kewpie employment; full funding was not established from the record. The findings should remain attached to the tested preparations. [1]

A hypothetical distinction

Imagine a surface replica changes. It does not directly reveal how much new collagen was produced.
